Pets & Pickers Season 1 is an upcoming documentary series. The show will work alongside the Regional Animal Protection Society’s dedicated vet and thrift store teams to give low-income pet families life-saving healthcare. Pets & Pickers was created and produced by Tyson Media in collaboration with Bell Media for Discovery, with The Bell Fund’s support. Tyson Hepburn is the showrunner and executive producer. Andrew Vacheresse is the Series Director, while Kelly McClughan is the Series Producer.

The unscripted series is the most recent example of Bell Media Distribution’s ongoing sales to broadcasters and platforms in more than 100 markets worldwide. Previous examples include all five installments of Discovery’s “mighty” franchise, the soon-to-debut evolving vegan on CTV Life Channel, Crave’s We’re All Going to Die (even Jay Baruchel), and more.

The all-new Canadian original series Pets & Pickers, starting Thursday, May 12 at 9 p.m. ET on Discovery, takes viewers on an uplifting journey to rescue needy animals. The eight-episode docuseries follows a one-of-a-kind animal hospital, the narrative of animals, their owners, and the exceptional team of veterinarians who care for them, and joins an all-new Thursday night lineup that includes the debut of Pig Royalty at 8 p.m. ET and Season 2 of Lousiana Law at 10 p.m. ET.

The steadfast commitment of the Regional Animal Protection Society’s vet and thrift store staff as they begin on a compassionate mission into a world where every animal’s well-being is prioritized and where a dedicated group of people work diligently to guarantee that all creatures, regardless of their owners’ financial capabilities, receive the care and attention they deserve.

Dexter, the dog, has significant lung problems in Episode 1 of Pets & Pickers, titled “Pets, Pickers, and Problems,” worried owner Michelle travels hours hoping that RAPS can assist in paying for urgent surgery. The determined squad of pickers, relying on abandoned storage locker products, is met with an unwelcome surprise. Meanwhile, Halo the Chihuahua realizes that the local dog park offers more than exercise.

Executive Director Eyal Lichtmann leads RAPS’ kind-hearted and innovative team and includes long-time animal lover Dr. Regan Schwartz; small animal specialist and Vets Without Borders volunteer Dr. Alex Maldonado (Dr. Alex); feral animal care professional Dr. Joseph Martinez; the patriarch and leading exotic animal veterinarian Dr. Satveer Dadrwal (Dr. Satveer); RAPS’ lead veterinarian and go-to surgeon Dr. Marius Vasilescu, aka “Dr. V” Karen Kamachi, the thrift store manager, and skilled picker Marty Kramer are among the animal-loving pickers who work together to bring in donations and find purchasers to aid people and dogs in need.

Dexter experiences significant breathing issues in the inaugural Pets & Pickers episode. This prompts worried owner Michelle to travel a long distance, hoping that RAPS can help pay for an urgent surgery.
